Volontariat Moyen/Long terme

Brothers Farmers and Artisans for Development (FAGAD) is a non-governmental organization created in 1990 and governed by the law of 1 July 1901. FAGAD works for local development and cultural exchanges through volunteering between other countries of the world and the Togo.


It covers the fields of teaching children:
- How to prepare the future
-Teach them to read and write
- How to live in society
-Teach them games and sketches, and aid them to present them in public
-Teach the basic notions of hygiene and cleaning up
-Teach them how to protect themselves again certain illnesses

The volunteer will work with:

-The FAGAD Children’s Club ( some 30 or so children between the ages of 16 and 17 years old)
-The primary school of the catholic nuns ( childrenbetween the ages of 6 and 12 years old)
-The Ministry of Education School of AdetaKodomé (children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old)
-The Adetakindergarden( children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old)

Hébergement et nourriture: 

The food is made by the volunteers themselves and everyone is involved in the various community tasks (cooking, dishes, dormitory maintenance and others). Groups of three or four will be trained for this purpose depending on the number of volunteers.
Volunteers are housed in shared rooms at the work site.

Location :

Kpélé-Adéta is a town of 15 000 inhabitantsIt is the headquarters of the Prefecture of Kpélé and has the headquarters of FAGAD.It is situated on the cross – roads Kpalimé – Atakpamé and Notsé – Danyi. There is a Post Office, a police commissariat and a medical – social centre. The nearest hospital is the American Baptist Hospital, 4 kms distant from Adeta. At Adeta there is electricity and mains water.
TERMINAL and MEETING POINT : International Airport Général Gnassingbé Eyadema, Lomé.

Leisure :

- Evenings of exchanges and debates are organized around various topics and on the current global stakes such as: culture shock, immigration, global warming, gender and development ... These evenings are animated by the volunteers and moderated by the host of the site.
- During their stay, volunteers can enjoy various cultural activities (Percussion, dancing, and other artistic activities) or can enjoy the touristic attractions nearby (waterfalls, forests, Mount Agoué, monasteries, lake Volta,...).
- Close by touristic attractions :
Fuentes Farm circuit ( Adeta…. Monasteries of DanyiDzogbegan and Fuentes Farm together with the American Hospital at Tsiko )
Kloto circuit ( Mount Kloto whence it is possible to glimpse Lake Volta in Ghana,Kamalo falls, artisanal center of Kpalimé, market )
AgouéWomé circuit ( Summit of Mount Agoué – 986 m; Womé falls, Kpalimé market )
Kpelé circuit ( KpéléKonda falls or Dzanipé with its beautiful waterfalls, Tsaviè altar of rest )
Touto – to circuit ( FIATOE site, communal forests FAO Kpékpéta and Agbomé, Puel village )
- Also the possibility of discovering the North of Togo ( the large towns such as Atakpamé, Sokodé and Kara, the Aledjo fault ( the road passes through a cutting in an enormous rock ), Tamberma country, Niamtougou falls…) and the Nangbeto Barrage with the hippopotamus lake, the elephants at Tchandé.
- Day with a family; a day of immersion in the life of an African family organized around the following themes: animism, the election of the village chief, traditional marriage, or a day in the field.

Conditions préalables:

All foreign volunteers should remember to take yellow fever vaccine and take all necessary health measures before leaving; the same for insurance. It should be noted that your yellow fever book must be hand-held for check at the airport otherwise you may be vaccinated at the airport before entering the country.

Volunteers should bring mosquito nets, micro cleaners to disinfect water or other disinfectants, sheets and blankets, mosquito sprays, K - Ways and walking shoes. Impregnated mosquito nets are available in Lomé at a very affordable cost.
Volunteers are advised to take proper clothing, parties and outings with them. The outfits and bush shoes also.

Items the volunteer can bring :
Children’s games, educational items, books, and small financial contributions.


Fee: 390 Euros per month.
Period: open all round the year.
Someone will welcome the volunteer at the airport international général Gnassingbé Eyadema in Lomé. Fees to FAGAD accomodations are covered by FAGAD.
